Story of a Tattoo
In 1945 I happened to be in San Francisco, on shore leave. I was probably 18 years old. I really couldn't do much, because I only had $3.00 in my pocket. I was on Market street, somewhere down near the ferry building. As I was wandering around considering going back to my ship, the 446, I passed a tattoo parlor. Just out of curiosity, I went in and asked what I could get for three dollars. the owner brought out a book and showed me the page with "economy " tattoos. I didn't have much will power in those days, (and still don't) so I had the a tattoo put on my left fore arm, a rather small anchor! It's only about 1 1/2 inches high and 1 inch wide. I've been eternally grateful that I didn't have more money on me that day. Dave...446
