Sinking of the LST 447
¬Ý
LST 446 was the first LST built at the Kaiser shipyards in Vancouver Washington. It was also the first LST in the Pacific. It was quickly followed off the ways by LST 447, and these two ships were like blood brothers, what one did or went, the other did and went. They remained together until the battles of Okinawa, when the attacking ships were set upon by a hornets nest of Kamikazes. The "brothers" were separated at Okinawa when the 447 took a direct hit from a Japanese Kamikaze. The action was seen and photographed from the 446. The photo is attached’Ķ.Dave’Ķ446 Dave LST 446
