Fate of the LST 1092’Ä®’Ä®Now that LSTs are a thing of the past, many of those who served on an LST wonder what became of ’Äútheir’Äù ship. Recently I received an Email and a picture, from Victor Eduardo Vergera, a Chief Petty Officer in the Chilean Navy. The LST 1092 was transferred to the Chilean Navy after its service in the US Navy was completed. It was renamed LST Aguila (Eagle), and served many years in South American waters.
